Freaks and Geeks Part Deux: The Best, The Worst and the WTF?

omic-Con 2012 was a 4-day event that left many things to the imagination. As an outsider looking into the world of comics and gaming, I’m afraid I lack the knowledge and lingo to keep up in the vast world of superheroes, fantasy worlds and aliens (although many who know me well would argue the latter). If you read last year’s con coverage, you’ll discover the explosive madness of the event. This year I took a different approach.
C
ombing through the hoards of costumed-villains and average comic geeks at the San Diego Convention Center, I soon discovered that creativity has no limits for fanboys and fangirls. These special individuals arrived at the con wearing handcrafted, mish-mashed costumes that make you stop, stare and think of how they came up with their unique getup (Or just make you say ‘WTF?’)

While most come to the con as a Storm Trooper, others come as a plush toy closet explosion.
S
ome of the head-turning highlights included pirate-pimp Darth Vaders (Yes, they came as a combo); a male Princess Leia and his protege, a sexy Chewbacca; a man covered in small plush toys; and a hog-loving Boston Terrier riding a motorcycle.
A
nd in usual Comic-Con fan fare, there were lots of Storm troopers, Batmans and Adventure Time Finns to go around.
